Sydney, Nov 5, 2010 (Global Fashion Wire) - Guanabana's Founder, Linda Bergskas, spoke with Global Fashion Wire about the latest Autumn/Winter 2011 collection 'The Girl From Telemark' which Guanabana exhibited at the Fashion Palette this year, and also the direction which Guanabana will be taking in the near future.

The Range:

'The Girl From Telemark', offers a distinct nod to designer Linda Bergskas's Norwegian roots. Originally known for bright summery collections, this range extends Guanabana's kaleidoscopic feel to the Autumn and Winter collection. Inspired by her culture Linda's winter range combines inspiration from traditional Norwegian costume with modern colour palettes and silhouettes to create a distinctly Guanabana-esque feel. Authentic Norwegian patterns collected from neighbours in her hometown village of Telemark, are featured throughout the collection.

With the vast textural offerings from light and floaty cottons and silks, warm leather and suede, to cuddly faux fur, velvet and knitwear, the range overcomes the challenge of being both glamorous and cosy throughout the winter months!

About Linda Bergskas:

Linda Bergskas is the mastermind behind the highly inspired Australian fashion label Guanabana Designs. Born in Telemark Norway, from childhood Linda has had an intense affinity with animals, nature and exotic cultures. Speaking 5 languages and having lived in some of the most exotic locations in the world from Spain to Malaysia, it is easy to see why her collections are deeply imbued with ethnic and cultural themes.

Relocating to Australia in 2001, Linda began a degree in Graphic Design at the University of Newcastle. By 2005, Linda had opened her own fashion boutique called 'Guanabana'; named after her pet Diamond Python "Guana Miss Bana", who would become a permanent resident in the boutique. In 2007 Linda launched her own label by the same name.

The Guanabana aesthetic is defined by exquisite beading and embellishments, vivid use of color and graphic prints. A gifted artist and graphic designer by trade, Linda often uses her own paintings and artworks as inspiration for the exclusive prints she creates for each collection. Linda endeavors to offer her customers distinct pieces that compliment individual style at a reasonable price point. The Guanabana girl has her own individual style and is not afraid to stand out from the crowd. Never trying to 'fit in' with the latest fad, the Guanabana Girl's fashion flare is consistent with her lifestyle and beatnik spirit.

Instilled with a penchant for all things exotic, Linda will continue fuse ethnic inspiration and bohemian luxe to create standout ranges with an ethos of relaxed glamour. In addition to clothing, the exotic luxe feel extends to a range of swimwear, jewelry, shoes and accessories.
