New York, Apr 12, 2012 (Global Fashion Wire) - For 5 days next week (April 19th-23rd) Perth will be abuzz with fashion glitz and glamour as West Australian designers showcase their Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collections at the inaugural Savoir Faire Perth Fashion Week (Savoir Faire PFW). They will be joined by a selection of the world's most exciting fashion designers showcasing the latest global fashion trends.

Local fashion queen Ruth Tarvydas will close the opening day of the event, April 19. "I am very honoured to have Ruth Tarvydas showcasing at Savoir Faire PFW," said PFW director, Sylvia Giacci. "Ruth is an icon in the Australian fashion industry. Her ethos and creativity is an inspiration for designers everywhere."

"Perth will be spoilt with a never before seen concept of design using a chemical over fabrication and embellishment that creates amazing shapes which are body exciting and visually gob smacking," said Ruth Tarvydas. Ruth will launch this concept at Savior Faire PFW even before it is shown overseas as part of a massive global rollout.

Other West Australian designers showcasing are also world class. "They were selected because we know that they are going to be our next biggest exports. We know what the international buyers are looking for and these labels have got a great future." said Sylvia Giacci.

Kitty Grace is a very exciting label designed by the uber cool Kat Grace. It is super sexy and flirty. Her show will be nothing short of glamorous. It is very rock 'n roll.

Perth born Kat Grace now bounces between the island life of Bali and the bustling city of New York. Her upcoming SS12/13 collection titled "She's Like Crystal" will have a new focus on corsetry, draping and swimwear. Her inspiration stems from the discovery of the incredible Naica Mine in Mexico which contains the world's largest known natural crystal formations.

Exciting new West Australian label, Zhivago will be eagerly anticipated as will the House of Zaccaria.

Daring, edgy, yet elegant, Zhivago offers a unique collection for the fashion forward woman. Imbued with modern glamour, the Zhivago range includes day and evening wear featuring hand distressed fabrics, beautiful leathers and high end finishings. Zhivago's collection draws on the combined style sense, experience and design talents of friends Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich.

House of Zaccaria, was created in 2010 by Noeleen Radalj-Zaccaria and Tiffany Spencer out of the love of ageless, opulent, simply beautiful designer pieces encapsulating the truth in beauty and following the script of archetypical contradictions between femininity and masculinity, all the while seeking impeccable quality of stunning fabrics and immaculate workmanship.

Garth Cook, One Fell Swoop and Betty Tran will also feature showcase their latest designs. Garth's collections are made entirely in Western Australia using world class fabrics and his design aesthetic is truly unique. With an emphasis on convertibility, draping and modern lines Garth has been labeled "one to watch" after his debut collection at RAFW 2010.

The West Australian duo that is "One Fell Swoop" create garments which occupy a space between commercial and the artistic. They do not believe in a specific inspiration for a collection, instead they draw from a wide range of cultures and references to create modern, avant-garde pieces.

Betty Tran's designs epitomise the image of the 'new age' modern woman who is confident, feminine and elegant - her style is understated, timeless and classic. Betty Tran specialises in cocktail, evening and ready to wear fashion. Her new self- titled range follows the success of her Betty Sugar label - it is for the woman who has transformed into a lady with class and sophistication.

For those seeking style for the fabulously curvaceous size 16+, Perth designer, Cheryl Zuvelek will showcase her "It's on the Plus Side" label at Savior Faire PFW.

New Generation designers showcasing are Rosie & Broken, Jonte, Jessica Bratich, With Grace, Talweez Kaur Senghera and Mec & The Maid.

Bratich, a former karate champion and stunning wife of Aussie cricketer Mitchell Johnson will showcase her second collection of handbags and clutches. Her label was born out of a desire to challenge conventional handbag shapes and create designs that don't rely on the latest trends.

Fashions created by indigenous designers will be featured in the "Dreamtime" showcase of swimwear and ready to wear by Deadly Divas, Eva Wanganeen, Bandi Bandi, Kaninda Designs and Buli-J. In a first for Australian fashion weeks, Savoir Faire PFW has set up a special programme for indigenous artists, textile artists and designers that will provide the tools and the platform for indigenous creatives to gain recognition in an international arena. "We will guide indigenous creatives and provide all the tools from business through to design to help them create their own sustainable business on an international level," said PFW's Sylvia Giacci.

The "Ready to Wear" showcase will feature Thompson Clothing, Leanne Lim and Blossom Betty.

The "Swim" show will feature Amore & Sorvete, Cebiche, Anjos Do Mar, Bikini Atoll and Gypsea.
